The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, has congratulated the Executive Director, Finance of the Commission, Professor Muhammad Bashar Nuhu, on his election as National President of the Nigeria Environmental Society (NES).
Professor Nuhu, the first person from Northern Nigeria to hold the position was elected at the 35th National Conference and 36th Annual General Meeting of the Society held in Benin City, Edo State over the weekend.
Dr. Tsenyil while felicitating with Professor Nuhu’s emergence on behalf of the Governing Board and management of the NCDC. Described the feat as a testament to his outstanding leadership qualities, academic excellence, professional accomplishments, and longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.
A statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Head, Media and Corporate Communications Department of the NCDC, stated that Tsenyil noted that the election was not only a personal honour to Professor Nuhu, but also a source of pride to the NCDC, which remains committed to promoting sustainable development and addressing environmental challenges across the North Central region.
Tsenyil expressed confidence that Professor Nuhu’s new position would provide a valuable platform for stronger collaboration between the Commission and the Nigeria Environmental Society, particularly in developing practical and sustainable solutions to the environmental challenges confronting the region.
The NCDC Managing Director reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to support Professor Nuhu’s leadership and work closely with the Society and other relevant stakeholders to advance proactive approaches to environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development across the North Central region and Nigeria at large.
Tsenyil expressed optimism that Professor Nuhu’s wealth of knowledge, experience, and professional network would contribute significantly to strengthening environmental advocacy, promoting best practices, and advancing policies that safeguard the environment for present and future generations.
While wishing him a successful and impactful tenure, the NCDC Chief Executive prayed that God would grant Professor Nuhu the wisdom, strength, and good health required to discharge the responsibilities of his new office effectively.
