NCPC Boss Expresses Shock At Jos Killings

BY TEMI OHAKWE, ABUJA – The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Yakubu Pam has expressed shock at the level of attack perpetuated by the unknown gunmen against the people of Kuru, Plateau State.

Rev Pam, who paid a condolence visit on the District Head of Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, Da Patrick Mandung in his palace at the weekend to commiserate with him on the recent attack in his community in which twelve persons were killed and five others brutally wounded, said his heart is heavy.

He said; “We are shocked that the attackers can come into this interior village, killed our people and escaped freely”.

Pam assured the royal father that those who carried out the heinous attack against the people would be arrested by the security personnel adding that above all, God would certainly fish them out, stressing that; “They can escape from man, but cannot escape the wrath of God”.

The NCPC boss described the life of Da Patrick Mandung as exemplary, peace loving custodian of his people and therefore assured the royal father that the lives of his people are secured in God’s hand.

In the words of Pam; “What you need now in this community is God. People need to go back to God.

I urged the people of Kuru to learn to forgive one another. The situation should not be politicised.

Earlier, the Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon Gideon Davou, said he was grieved and battered by what happened to his people, saying that it is ‘barbaric and dastardly’.

Davou commended the people of Kuru for their peaceful disposition, adding that the Berom people are peaceful.

The chairman assured that as a people, they would synergize with the government to make sure that the killers are exposed and punish and commended the government of Plateau State for rising to the occasion at the trying moment of the community.

He pledged that his people would continue to give government all the support to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to book.

In his own remarks, Da Gwom Rwei Kuru, Da Patrick Mandung thanked Rev Pam for his show of humanity and love for the people.

Mandung said that he was shocked with disbelief over the action of the unknown gunmen who took the lives of 12 innocent and harmless people of his community without provocation whatsoever.

The condolence visit by the NCPC boss was graced by many strategic stakeholders in the area amongst whom were the Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon Mateng Gwalson, the Plateau State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Hon Gyang Musa, the Gwom Rwei of Riyom, Hon Commissioner, Civil Service Commission, Hon Danzos, the Chairman of Kuru Development Association, Justine Pam, the Clergy and officials of the NCPC.
