The delegation of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), and the States Pilgrimage Leaders on Friday, December 22, 2023 inspected some of the hotels in Athens, Greece preparatory for the forthcoming main Pilgrimage exercise slated for early 2024.
The Executive Secretary of the NCPC Rev Yakubu Pam led the inspection team made up of state pilgrimage leaders and managers.
The team had also on Thursday, December 21, 2023 inspected holy sites in Corinth and Athens where Apostle Paul had his second Missionary journey..
The team were satisfied with the facilities at the hotels inspected and urged the management to maintain and improve on the standard.
Rev Pam assured that the Commission would continue to ensure that the welfare of the Nigerian pilgrims is not compromised, stressing that the Commission and the State Pilgrimage Leaders had resolved to make Rome and Greece the next pilgrimage destination for the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise which would come up early next year, hence the pre-visit tour of the holy sites and hotels in the two countries.
The NCPC delegation and the states Pilgrimage leaders commenced a pre-visit tour of the Holy sites and hotels in Rome and Greece from December 16 to 23, 2023 during which they inspected holy sites and hotels in Rome before carrying out inspections in Athens.
A statement by Celestine Toruk, Head of Media and Public Relations of the NCPC, stated that at the end of the pre-visit tour in Greece, Rev Pam enjoined the States Pilgrimage leaders and managers to go and ensure they commence the pilgrimage process in their various states in good time.
