NDIC, BPSR Partner On Service Delivery Innovation

BY COBHAM NSA –  The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) is set for effective partnership with the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) for innovative service delivery to depositors and other stakeholders in the nation’s banking industry.

And for the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Mr Bello Hassan, there is no compromising its effective mandate delivery of protecting depositors’ funds as well as ensuring the safety and soundness of the banking system.

Mr Hassan gave the assurance while receiving the Director-General of BPSR, Mr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, and his management team during their courtesy visit to the Corporation.

He said NDIC’s commitment to effective service delivery informed the Board’s swift creation of an Efficiency and Innovation Unit in the Strategy Development Department in compliance with the directive of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

Bello also said the Corporation fully endorses external assessment of its performance, noting that the Self- Assessment Tool (SAT) developed by the Bureau would complement the Corporation’s existing mechanism for assessing the effective discharge of its mandate.

According to the NDIC Chief Executive, SAT would no doubt assist it in achieving the Federal Government’s objectives of considerably strengthening governance and accountability in service delivery to Nigerians.

Speaking earlier, the BPSR’s Director-General, Dasuki Arabi explained that the Bureau’s IT-based self-assessment tool is designed to “coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of reforms as well as disseminate information on all aspects of public service” among other set objectives.

He expressed confidence in NDIC’s capability to implement the Bureau’s self-assessment processes as well as its commitment towards prioritizing innovation that promotes excellence in service delivery.

Arabi also pledged the Bureau’s readiness to sustain robust partnership with the Corporation and other government agencies in assessing their performance for optimal mandate delivery to the citizenry.
