BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Stakeholders in the management of Nigerian football on Friday kicked against what they described as the continued impunity with which the operatives of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) are brazenly attacking and disturbing the peace of staffers of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The stakeholders in a joint statement said that the development is more worrisome since all pending issues in Nigerian football were thrashed out in courts which should be respected by all concerned in the management of Nigerian football.

The statement which was signed by Jarret Tenebe, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, Harrison Jalla, Olajide Fashikun, and Barrister Faye Jacob that even after lodging a formal complaint with the leadership of the DSS in Abuja against the conduct of the personnel who illegally occupy the Nigerian Football Glass House, no action has been taken.

The statement said; “Their invasion of the peace of the National Assembly and the Benue state House of assembly becomes instructive here.”

The stakeholders therefore demanded the immediate withdrawal of the operatives of the DSS from the Glass House else they would mobilise Nigerians to confront them.

“Their presence is an assault on the independence and hallowed nature of the judiciary and the Supreme Court. To add legal colouration, we have already briefed Falana and Falana’s Chambers. In addition, we shall be approaching the court for contempt proceedings against the persons who have decided to strip the court of respect.

“The Orders of the Supreme Court cannot and should not be taken to the dogs.

“In view of the foregoing, we seek the indulgence of the Acting Director General of the DSS, Mr Matthew Seiyefa, to toe the line of his maiden media briefing to withdraw his men immediately as a mark of respect for the Supreme Court.”

The stakeholders insisted that Ambassador Chris Giwa is the only recognized President of the NFF by the pronouncement of the court and therefore demanded that he should forthwith call the Congress of the NFF to review and approve all pending issues.
