The Nigerian Army on Tuesday announced that its special Force has successfully eliminated a notorious militia leader in Benue State by name Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Gana.

The notorious gang leader was declared wanted by Nigerian police for killing several innocent citizens, including the Special Assistant on Special Security, to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Late Denen Igbana.

As part of efforts to tack and arrest Gana, the Benue State Government placed a N10 million-Naira bounty on him.

Gana was believed to be the brain behind so many murderous activities of criminal gangs in Sankera geo–political zone comprising Ukum, Logo and Katsina Ala local government areas and the entire Zone A senatorial of Benue State.

Information gathered indicated that before Gana met his Waterloo, he was sighted in Katsina-Ala township stadium in Benue North claiming that he wanted to surrender for an amnesty programme by the state government.

It would be recalled that the militia leader had surrendered and handed over a catchment of arms and ammunition to the Benue State amnesty programme initiated by Governor Samuel Ortom in 2015 during which he was pardoned.

However, Gana later went back to his criminal activities.
