Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has declared that Nigerians must collectively rescue the country from the shackles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu oppression as well as deepening poverty, increasing hunger, and worsening insecurity in the land.

This was as he declared that Nigerians must come out to rescue their country from the bad governance of the Tinubu-led APC government come 2027 that has pushed the people into unacceptable level of poverty.

Tambuwal, a former Governor of Sokoto State, specifically declared that the Tinubu-led government has clearly failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians owing to lack of planning and careful execution of policies.

Tambuwal, who stated these on Saturday, April 11, 2026, while addressing large crowd of party faithful, stakeholders and supporters at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), noted that Nigerians are experiencing excruciating pains of the maladministration and realities of the Tinubu government.

In the words of Tambuwal; “Available reality shows that this administration has only been able to deliver much more insecurity, poverty, and hunger. This is in addition to the gross mismanagement and diversion of public resources as well as securing of more loans which undoubtedly will be deployed during the 2027 elections to influence voters”.

The former Speaker also lamented the economic hardship facing Nigerians, emphasising that unemployment and poverty have worsened under the Tinubu-led administration.

According to Tambuwal; “Most Nigerians would reject continued misgovernance. I am of firm believe that Nigerians have seen for themselves what Bola Ahmed Tinubu can deliver, if at all they have been able to deliver anything”.

The former Governor of Sokoto State declared that the 2027 general elections will be a contest between the Nigerian people and the Tinubu group, and stressed that citizens must prepare to demand better governance.

Speaking on strategies for victory ahead of 2027, Tambuwal urged ADC members to intensify grassroots mobilization, expand membership registration, and maintain unity within the party.

He said; “Nigerians have seen how the Tinubu-led federal government has been desperate in their attempt to suppress opposition, but we are standing firm, no shaking, no surrender, no retreat”.

Meanwhile, the Sokoto State ADC Congress, conducted through consensus and voice affirmation, produced Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu as State Chairman, Alhaji Bello Isiaku Meagan – Deputy Chairman, and Kabiru Sarkin Fulani as State Secretary.

Other executives elected through consensus include Kabiru Hali – Vice Chairman (Central), Abdullahi Bafarawa – Vice Chairman (Sokoto East), and Sadiq Sayyina – Vice Chairman (Sokoto South), among several others.

Party leaders expressed optimism that the new executive would strengthen the ADC’s structure and position the party for stronger political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
