Nigerians Will Reject You 2019: Barafawa Tells Buhari, APC
BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – A Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has said that what happened to former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 will befall the All Progressive Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Bafarawa, who stated this in Kaduna on Thursday when he met with PDP delegates ahead of the presidential primaries, said the power of incumbent no longer has a place in Nigerian politics today, saying that, “Any government that fails to perform will be kicked out by the electorate.”
He said that unlike the APC, PDP would not look back but will be positioned to move the country forward when it takes over power in 2019.
Bafarawa appealed to the delegates to give him their votes, adding that during his eight years as governor of Sokoto state, he did a lot which has been documented into a book for the records.
Responding, the Kaduna state PDP chairman, Mr. Felix Hassan Hyet said that he was not surprise about the achievements of the former governor, who he described as a straightforward individual whose “yes is yes and no is no”.
Hyet, a former Minister of Aviation said Nigeria needs an upright leader to lead the country to prosperity.
The Kaduna State PDP chairman described the presidential aspirant as a household name in Nigeria, who is known to be unbiased.
He said; “His Excellency, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, is a leader who was a governor for eight years without salary or residing in the government House. We commend you if there is anybody that needs that commendation, you deserve it.”
