The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has rescheduled the invitation extended to him by the Nigeria Police Force for questioning over allegation bordering on Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion and Cybercrime.
Ajaero in a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police, through his lawyers, Falana and Falana Chambers, said he would not be able to keep the Tuesday (today), August 20, 2024 date for interrogation thus, scheduled an alternative date for Wednesday, August 29, 2024.
The police on Monday, August 19, 2024, summoned the NLC President to report before its Intelligence Response Team (IRT), on Tuesday, August 20, warning that if he fails to honour the invitation, he would be arrested.

However, Ajaero through his legal team, requested the police to provide him detailed information about the specific allegations against him in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
The letter signed by Samuel Ogala Esq on behalf of Falana, read in part: “Therefore, Ajaero is prepared for your interview on Wednesday, August 29, 2024.
“Furthermore, in accordance with the provisions of Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as altered, Ajaero requests for the details and nature of the allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime levelled against him.
“While awaiting your response to this letter, please accept the assurance of our highest esteem,” Ogala concluded.
