The Federal Government has transferred the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who was convicted of terrorism by a Federal High Court in Abuja to a correctional facility in Sokoto State.

This was disclosed by his former lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, who said that Kanu was moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility in Abuja less than 24 hours after he was handed a life sentence by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court.

Justice Omotosho had convicted Kanu on multiple counts of terrorism after years of trial.

Ejimakor, in a post shared on X account on Friday, November 21, 2025, noted that the relocation of Kanu from Abuja to Sokoto would further distance him from his legal team and family members.

Ejimakor on his X: @AloyEjimakor posted; “Breaking: MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well wishers —November 21, 2025.
