…Congratulates Nmodu, Ojeifo, Kemi Yesufu, Other elected executives
The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG), has tasked the new leadership of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) to set clear standards and enforce guidelines for the establishment and operation of online news platforms.
NNMG said such would ensure professionalism, accountability, credibility and sustainability in the fast-growing digital media environment.
The group which stated these while congratulating three online publishers and Editors, Danlami Nmodu, Sufuyan Ojeifo, and Kemi Yesufu on their emergence as President, Secretary-General, and Publicity Secretary respectively, of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), also called on the new leadership to continue to uphold the highest ideals of integrity, objectivity, and national responsibility
The trio emerged at the just-concluded election.
A statement by Chief Jacob Edi, convener of NNMG, also felicitated with other officers elected to serve in various capacities in the Guild.
Edi, who is also the Kakaki Bassange, noted that their emergence is a strong affirmation of the trust and confidence reposed in their integrity, competence, and commitment to the advancement of ethical journalism in Nigeria.
The NNMG noted that the election of the distinguished professionals was a reflection of their long-standing dedication to the growth and credibility of the online media space.
According to Edi; “Their track records of fairness, depth, and responsibility stand as enduring examples of what journalism should represent in a rapidly evolving digital era”.
NNMG urged the new GOCOP leadership to intensify efforts to rid the profession of fakes and quacks whose activities continue to undermine public trust in journalism.
NNMG also urged GOCOP on the need to encourage its members to produce content that not only informs and educates, but also promotes national unity and mutual understanding across Nigeria’s diverse communities.
While congratulating the new GOCOP leadership, the NNMG wished them a successful tenure defined by innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in service to the journalism profession and to the nation
