No Discussion On Nnamdi Kanu With South-East Govs – Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says discussion on possible release of embattled leader of now-proscribed IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was not on the agenda of his meeting with Governors of the South East geo-political zone held on Tuesday in Enugu State.
On their invitation, the former President and former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku had met with the governors on to discuss regional development issues.
Contrary to widespread reports on social media, Chief Obasanjo pointedly said the assumed discussions for Kanu to enjoy freedom from the Federal Government did not feature at the meeting.
Confirming that the said meeting only addressed issues of regional development such as security and infrastructure, a release by Special Assistant on Media to the former President, Kehinde Akinyemi, said that other matters include economic and cooperative/collaboration meant to complement the national economic development agenda of the Federal Government.
The statement quoted Obasanjo as saying; “The meeting with them was at my invitation and Chief Emeka Anyaoku before their summit begins.
“The issue of Nnamdi Kanu was not on the agenda and was not discussed in my presence. “
