Northern Governors’ Forum Mute Over Payment Of NNN Staff Benefits
- As death toll of those awaiting payment hits 109
Chairman, Northern States Governors Forum and Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya has maintained studied silence over the payment of entitlements to staff of the New Nigerian Newspapers.
This is even as the death toll of beneficiaries awaiting their payment under Northern States Governors hit 109 on Saturday, March 29, 2025 following the death of Ado Umar at the Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
A post on the New Nigerian Newspapers’ Northern States’ Governors Forum (NSGF) Beneficiary WhatsApp platform by Alhaji Idris, stated; “we lost another Beneficiary in Person of Ado Umar this afternoon at Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
May Allah SWT Grant him Aljannah Firdausi”.
This took place barely three days after another beneficiary awaiting the payment of his benefits after years of meritorious service, Mr Zakka Bitiyong of the Commercial Printing Department and Radio Room was buried in Kaduna.
The development has thrown the entire NNN family into mourning as members cried uncontrollably with over 200 storming the WhatsApp platform lamenting over the death of Ado Umar.
Expectedly, the beneficiaries sent passionate appeals on the platform stating; “We are soliciting for prayers, one of our former colleagues, a Driver and also beneficiary in the person of Ado Umar (Baba Ado), has undergone surgery for hernia and in need of medical attention and financial assistance at the Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital, Tudun Wada, Kaduna”.
Further checks indicated that the number of beneficiaries in serious need of medical attention and other challenging issues have risen from 29 to 36 persons.
The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF), under the watch of Gombe State Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, raked in seven billion Naira after selling off the New Nigerian Newspaper properties that was meant to be used in settling the NNN beneficiaries’ entitlements.
However, despite several efforts made by the beneficiaries to have their deserved entitlements, none of them has so far been paid a dime out of the 2.5 billion Naira owed the retirees.
