Northern Youths Slam Science Minister, Uche Nnaji
For blocking Nwoye’s appointment as Chief of Staff
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Enugu State led by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, for opposing the appointment of Ben Nwoye as Chief of Staff in the ruling Party’s National Secretariat.

In a Communique signed by the Speaker of NYAN, Rt. Hon. Ukkasha Hamza Rahama and made available to the media after its meeting in Abuja over the weekend, the body described the move by the Nnaji-engineered stakeholders as “unfortunate and condemnable”.
NYAN said it is regrettable to have the Minister oppose Nwoye’s appointment as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Ali Burkar Dalori, accusing him of dangerous schemings to seize control of APC’s structures in Enugu State through the back door.
Urging President Bola Tinubu to rein in the Minister and check his disruptive activities against the APC in Enugu State, the group described Ben Nwoye as a “complete and loyal party man” who has done so much for the APC in Enugu and the entire South-East zone.
According to NYAN, Nwoye’s contributions to the ruling Party have made him stand out among millions of contemporaries in the region, noting he worked tirelessly towards the actualization of the Tinubu/Shetima presidency investing his hard-earned resources, energy, and logistics during the 2023 Presidential elections.
The body also labeled Nwoye a grassroots politician who having served as the first APC Chairman in Enugu state, has been deploying personal resources to finance the Party’s affairs since 2013, adding; “We therefore called on the APC’s Deputy National Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori to ignore the fictitious political maneuvers and appoint Ben Nwoye as the next Chief of Staff.
“He is eminently qualified and competent to serve as Chief of Staff to the office of the Deputy National Chairman, North of the ruling All Progressive Congress, and his appointment will gain more support to the party in the Southeast region.”
NYAN’s comments come on the heels of a communique issued by the Stakeholders, APC Enugu State chapter at the end of its meeting held on Saturday, 25th November 2023 in which they opposed Nwoye’s appointment as Chief of Staff, alleging that he is not an APC member and in the state and neither did he work for the party during the 2023 General elections.
