The notorious bandit, who has been terrorising Zamfara State and its environs, Gwoska Dankarami, narrowly escaped death on New Year’s eve during military attacks on his camp.

The hideout is located in Zurmi Local Government Area of the State, along Kaura Namoda Road and Dankarami is among many other bandits’ leaders that have been giving communities in Zamfara and neighbouring states sleepless nights.

Reports indicated that the bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) claimed the lives of around a dozen foot soldiers that are loyal to Dankarami.

It was further gathered that the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji, in sustaining its assault on the enclave for several hours, struck the targeted areas many times.

According to a military operative; “The operation killed over 16 of his cohorts and destroyed his enclave and newly built house. Dankarami has not been himself since the strikes at Mutunji village in Dansadau a fortnight ago”.

Competent sources also hinted that over 100 terrorists were killed in that operation, including some of Dankarami’s close associates.

Confirming the Saturday’s raid, NAF’s Director of Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet warned that there would be no hiding place for “terrorists and their supporters wherever they may be”.
