The Ibagwa Nike (Eze-Okwe) Kingdom of Enugu State was on Sunday agog as the paramount ruler Igwe (Dr.) Emmanuel O. Ugwu bestowed the traditional title of of Ezechidelu (King ordained by God) on the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo.
The event which was attended by the Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, also witnessed the houring of six other notable personalities with different traditional titles along with Chief Isiguzo for their outstanding performance in their fields of endeavors and commitment to the growth and development of the nation.
One other notable personality honoured with a chieftaincy title by Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu was Dr Ben Nwoye, former state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was accorded the title of Etoo Dike.
While conferring the special title on the NUJ National President, Igwe Ugwu noted the pride of place he has placed the Southeast geo-political zone in the country, adding that Chief Chris Isiguzo started adding value to the Southeast as the State Chief Correspondent of the ThisDay Newspapers before moving to the Nigeria Union of Journalists where he rose to become its National President and was again reelected for a second term in office thereby contributing to the growth and development of the NUJ and Nigeria at large.
Igwe Ugwu said that the staff of office given to Chief Isiguzo would assist him to travail more and prevent enemies from getting him.
Chief Isiguzo who had been recognized with many awards and traditional titles for his sterling leadership qualities was reelected for a second term of office at the 7th Triennial Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in October 20231 at Umuahia, Abia State.
Chief Isiguzo was accompanied to the traditional title ceremony by Journalists from different parts of the country including members of the Enugu State Council of the Union led by its Chairman, Mr. Rex Arum, the NUJ Vice President of NUJ Zone C (South East), former Chairman of NUJ, Abuja Council, Mr. Amos Dunia, the General Manager, FRCN Bronze FM, Benin, Mrs Abimbola Oyetunde, Secretary of Enugu State Council of NUJ, Mrs Amaka Agbo and other numerous journalists.
