BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – As activities fire up ahead of the 2023 general elections, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has teased the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for introducing new vocabularies into Nigeria’s political scene and discourse.
Amid laughter by his audience in Abeokuta on Thursday, Chief Obasanjo said; “Yesterday, I received a visitor. I told the visitor: ‘You have introduced new vocabulary into the Yoruba political dictionary. Emi lo kan; eleyi; o lu’le. He [Tinubu] laughed.”
“I said I didn’t know if these new vocabularies are good but I know we will be using them”, Obasanjo declared at the inauguration of a 300-man committee for the installation of the new Olowu of Owu, Oba (Professor) Saka Adelola Matemilola in the Ogun State capital.
The former President hinted that the APC National Leader and former Lagos State governor burst into laughter when he told him about these three sentences, adding that; “These vocabulary are now popularly used. I told Bola and he laughed. I said whether the vocabularies are good or bad, we have started using them”.
