Obaseki Picks 11 Commissioners, 2 Special Advisers
- Edo Assembly reconvenes to screen nominees
More than a year after his re-election as the Chief Executive of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has finally forwarded the names of eleven commissioner-nominees to the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation.
Interestingly, the appointments, which also include two Special Advisers for the cabinet, are coming about ten months after the governor was sworn in for his second and final eight-year tenure in office.
A statement by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq, named the two Special Advisers as Crusoe Osagie, appointed as Special Adviser on Media Projects, and Sarah Esangbedo Ajose-Adeogun, Special Adviser, Strategy, Policy, Projects, and Performance Management.
On the list of commissioner-nominees already forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly are Oluwole Osamudiamen Iyamu (SAN); Prof (Mrs) Obehi Akoria; Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe; Osaze Ethan Uzamere and Monday Osaigbovo.
Others include Marie Edeko Esq; Joseph Eboigbe; Moses Agbukor; Isoken Omo; Andrew Emwanta and Mrs Otse Momoh-Omorogbe.
The House of Assembly has been on recess and was expected to reconvene on Wednesday, September 28, 2021, to commence the nominees’ screening.
Following his re-election in September 2020, Governor Obaseki has been running his second term administration with only three appointments made so far. These are Secretary to State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie; Chief of Staff, Government House, Osaigbovo Iyoha; and Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Jimoh Ijegbai.
