BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The Cross River State Government (CRSG) is poised to ensure the Obudu cargo airport commences operation within the next three months.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Mr Raphael Adoga, who disclosed this in Calabar, the State capital, said the project is very significant to the economic development of the State.

According to him, finishing touches are being carried out for the airport to be ready within the stipulated three months.

Mr Adoga told newsmen on the transformational agenda of the present administration on behalf of the political appointees from the Northern Senatorial district of the state, further said the Governor Bassey Edet Otu administration has kept faith with the promises made during the electioneering campaigns which is anchored on the “People’s First” philosophy.

The Governor’s Aide said people of the Northern Senatorial district are in solidarity with the impressive development rate ongoing across the State.

Besides the link road project in Ogoja Local Government Area that has given the people a sense of belonging, Adoga also identified rural electrification projects currently ongoing in all the LGAs as a development indices that has opened up the rural areas for effective economic development drive.

Similarly, one of the Special Advisers appointed by Governor Otu from the Central Senatorial District, Barrister Gilbert Agbor, said the agricultural sector has received a big boost with the resuscitation of Songhai farms in Abi Local Government Ares which has provided numerous employment opportunities for the youths.

Agbor, who is the Special Adviser on Assets Management and Recovery, noted with delight that for the first time since the commencement of the present democratic dispensation the Central Senatorial district has witnessed serious economic transformation based on the Governor’s vision of puting the People first on his list of priorities.

For the Southern Senatorial district where the state capital is located, the urban renewal programme has led to the overhauling of most major roads with solar powered street lights.

Further highlighting development projects earmarked for the district, Special Adviser on Events Management in the Governor’s Office, Comrade Effiong Ekpenyong disclosed that a railway line is being planned from Tinapa Resort in Calabar to the Northern parts of the state.

Additionally, Comrade Ekpenyong said construction work on the Bakassi Deep Seaport sponsored by Afrexim Bank would soon commence as the necessary paper works have been fully sorted out.
