Scenes from APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, the Cross River State capital

BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) on Monday tickled the fancy of voters in Cross River State with its spot-on indication that the South South state has regained its oil-producing status in the scheme of things.

Deputy Director General of the APC-PCC, Senator Adams Oshemole dropped the hints to the cheering crowd of party supporters at the U J Esuene stadium in Calabar, venue of the APC presidential campaign rally, saying restoring the state as an oil producing state is a priority for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration

Senator Oshemole, who received a standing ovation from the jubilant crowd of party faithfuls for the disclosure, however charged the people to be vigilant because according to him, to whom much is given , much equally is expected,

With the crowd erupting into pure ecstasy, chanting promises of “maximum votes” for the APC, Vice President Kashim Shettima further lightened the already electric atmosphere, stunning the overflowing stadium by launching into an Olympic-style sprint right down the tartan track before mounting the podium to deliver the Party’s message of ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to the people.

According to him, the state has all justifiable reasons to vote en masse for the ruling party given what the present administration has done for the people, insisting that claims by the oppositions about the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Bakassi Deep Seaport being a fluke are mere misplaced distraction,

Senator Shettima, who represented the President at the rally, further stated that what APC administration has done for the state is enough to convince the people about its sincerity of purpose and urged the people to remain resolute with their support for the party as more development projects and federal appointments have been earmarked for the state going forward.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who led the APC team, alongside Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Deputy Director-General of the APC-PCC, Senator Adam Oshiomhole, and Cross River State and South-South APC Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Governor Bassey Otu, among others, defended the administration’s economic reforms, acknowledging current public hardships but assured the people that the policies are beginning to yield positive economic results for the country and its citizens.

On his part, Governor Otu expressed delight over the massive turnout and assured the presidential campaign team that what they have seen is testimony of  Cross River being an APC stronghold, adding that nothing short of maximum votes would be delivered during the elections.

He however expressed dismay over attempts by opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to promote campaign of calumny aimed at distracting the people with unfounded and fake claims about mismanagement of proceeds from fuel subsidy removal

Towing the same path in wooing the voters, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda urged the people of Cross River and party stakeholders to turn out massively and translate their support into actual votes for the ruling party as a way of leveraging the state’s strategic maritime and commercial potential.
