Osimhen Can Only Leave At Right Price – Napoli Boss
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – With the transfer market becoming busy in the coming days and weeks, Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed offering their ace striker Victor Osimhen a new two-year contract.
However, Laurentiis said the Nigerian international could be permitted to exit the Club if an offer too tempting to ignore comes along from any interested team.
Though no specific fee has been mentioned, reports hinted that Napoli will only consider selling Osimhen for an amount in the region of over €100 million.
After a spectacular campaign with the Partonopei, the Super Eagles’ striker has continued to attract interests of some top European clubs who are jostling for his signature.
Having joined Napoli from Lille FC of France for a club and African record fee of €75m in 2020, Osimhen still has two years left on his contract at the club, but the Club is seeking a contract extension for the Nigerian player.
de Laurentiis is quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying; “We have an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract for two more years.
“In case an exorbitant bid impossible to reject arrives, we will see and make the best decision for the club”.
In the just-concluded 2022/2023 season, Osimhen scored 26 league goals, including the title-clinching strike, for the Italian Serie A champions.
The Nigerian star is also credited with another five goals in six Champions League matches which brought his total haul for the season to 31 goals in all competitions.
