The Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen scored twice and provided an assist to help Napoli secure a 4-1 victory over Spezia in Saturday’s Serie A game at Stadio Alberto Picco.

With another inspiring performance, the striker is gradually demonstrating why the Parthenopeans coughed out the huge sum to secure his signature from French side, Lille last summer.

So far, the Super Eagles striker has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Osimhen’s delivery on the night saw him scoring his ninth and 10th goals of the season to help Gennaro Gattuso’s men clinch all three points to further boost their chances of Champions League football next season.

The centre-forward, who was having his 21st league appearance for Napoli, utilized the opportunity to continue his impressive showing in the Italian league.

After scoring in each of his previous three games, Osimhen again shone against the Little Eagles, bagging his first brace for the Parthenopeans in a competitive game.

His effort helped Napoli to return to winning ways after playing out a draw in their last league outing against Cagliari.

With Osimhen spearheading the attack, Napoli enjoyed good spell as he came close to opening the scoring as early as the 12th minute when his fine shot narrowly missed the target.

Three minutes later, Napoli were in the lead when Piotr Zielinski’s strike zoomed past goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. The Super Eagles’ forward doubled the lead in the 23rd minute from close range after benefitting from Zielinski’s assist.

His second goal arrived moments before the break with a well-struck effort after being set up by Lorenzo Insigne.

After the restart, Spezia reduced the deficit in the 64th minute through Roberto Piccoli before Hirving Lozano sealed the victory for Napoli in the 79th minute with an assist from Osimhen.

With this victory, Napoli have now moved into second spot on the log with 70 points from 35 games.

Osimhen featured for 83 minutes before being replaced by Andrea Petagna and will hopefully help his side continue in winning ways as they face Udinese in their next league game on May 11. – Goal.com report
