The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), has said that unlike Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State that escaped from Nigeria during the administration of Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the Shiite Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky would not run away from Nigeria for any reason.
Chairman of the Free El-Zakzaky Campaign Organisation of the IMN, Mallam Abubakar Yola, stated this while responding to fresh conditions being dole out by Governor el-Rufai’s administration outside those ordered by the High Court that granted Sheik El-Zakzaky and his wife leave to travel out for medical attention.
The el-Rufai-led administration in Kaduna State during the week, rolled out seven new conditions that Sheik El-Zakzaky and his wife are expected to meet before they can be released from detention and allowed to travel out of the country.
But, Abubakar Yola said that it is clear that the Kaduna state government is only interested in creating unnecessary tension and confusion in the state by acting above the court, adding that the IMN sees no reason whatsoever why the el-Rufai-led government will deliberately come up with other conditions outside the court ruling.
He further said; “The issue is clear and straight forward. Governor el-Rufai or Kaduna state is not a court. The trial judge, Justice Darius Khobo has already issued an order and the Department of State Services (DSS), has received the order and agreed that they will comply with the court order. We won’t waste our time joining words with anyone over the court order.”
Abubakar Yola specifically said that Sheik El-Zakzaky would not flee Nigeria for whatever reason like el-Rufai did under the late President Yar’Adua’s administration. He therefore advised el-Rufai not to use his standard in judging other people, adding that the so called new conditions being created by the Kaduna State government remain an afterthought that would not stand the test of time.
In his words; “The latest action of Kaduna state government is an afterthought. Nothing more, nothing less. If el-Rufai thinks that because he ran away from this country during Late President Yar’Adua’s administration, he should know that everyone is not like him. I make bold to say Sheik El-Zakzaky will not run away from this country.
“Sheik El-Zakzaky is a bona fide Nigerian citizen and will never go to any country to look for asylum. Why should he look for asylum? All arrangements are on ground to ensure that he is flown to India where he will be going on medical vacation.
