BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna state chapter on Monday said the Church and the families of kidnapped Pastor and two children are presently helpless and traumatized three weeks after their abduction and still being held by their captives.

CAN therefore called on security agencies in the country to do the needful and help secure the release of the Pastor and the two other children kidnapped in Kaduna three weeks ago.

State chairman of CAN, Rev John Joseph Hayab, said in a statement issued in Kaduna on Monday, that three weeks after, the security is yet to get their release from captivity.

Rev Hayab said; “How can citizens have faith and trust in their government when they suffer and they are coerced to keep silence?
“Keeping silence will not help to address the problem. When we cry out, we are doing so as a wakeup call and also extending invitation to those who share in our pains to join us cry out for justice.”

“We are once again calling on security agencies to do the needful and help secure the release of the Pastor and the two children to their families.”

The CAN Chairman lamented three weeks ago, against what it described as “the evil being unleashed on CAN members by kidnappers, stressing that some funny people, using religion as cover, were being sponsored to malign and accuse CAN of beating the war drums.

He further said; “Thankfully, every peace loving person knows that they were sponsored to divert attention to the real issues bedeviling the people.

“The pains of knowing the where about of our loved ones captured by kidnappers is worrisome. One cannot do anything and no one is saying anything or consoling you, is excruciating.

CAN also appealed to the kidnappers to fear God and release Rev. Elisha Numan and the two children of the Bishop that have in captivity for weeks.

According to Hayab; “Rev Elisha was sick when he was kidnapped and we are afraid about his health.
The son of our Bishop is just 9 years old. He is not strong and mature to go through this torture.

“We are appealing that these innocent people be released. For those who see the cries of CAN as politics, we forgive them for their ignorance or greed and pray that they will not be ashame and afraid to cry out when someone close to them becomes a victim.”

Rev Elisha Numan of the Baptist Church, Angwan Makeri and the two children of a Bishop in Kaduna have been in the hands of kidnappers for the past three weeks.
