Outcry: I Will Not Resign As Acting Chairman Of PDP – Damagum Boasts

Following outcry by some concerned members of the Party for ahis stepping aside over allegation of anti-party activities, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Umar Damagum, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 frontally declared that no amount of pressure would force him into resigning his position.

Damagum, who made his position known at the inauguration of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees of the PDP, chaired by Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Tom Ikimi respectively, expressed frustration with individuals who lacked knowledge of the operation of the National Working Committee (NWC), yet, spread misinformation to the public.

He explained that the Party has been dealing with internal disputes both before and after the 2023 elections.

The PDP Acting National Chairman, Amb. Damagum has been repeatedly blamed by party members for contributing to the ongoing crisis in the Party as he has failed to provide leadership but, allowing a few to take over control of the PDP.

Damagum said; ”Let me send a message to everyone talking about Damagum this, Damagum that – I cannot be intimidated. The more you mention me, the more popular I become.”

Damagum pointedly said that the criticisms only enhances his popularity, saying that he is even considering running for the presidency due to his increased recognition.
