Over 30 Feared Killed As Gunmen Attack Southern Kaduna Community

Over 30 people are feared dead as a result of a deadly attack that took place on Sunday night, July 26, 2027 in Naridon (Kizakoro) Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The unprovoked attack which is believed to have taken place at about 11:55pm is being described as one of the deadliest in recent times that was carried out by armed men that stormed the community.

The Sunday night attacks, it was gathered extended into the early hours of Monday, July 27, 2026, as the heavily armed assailants, suspected by residents to be armed Fulani militants, stormed the village and indiscriminately opened fire on sleeping residents.

A source in the community said at least 28 victims have so far been identified by name, while several others remain unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll could exceed far above 30 persons.

The source gave the names of those reportedly killed as Geoffrey Monday, Maria Pius, Ladi Monday, Tabawa Monday, Guntu Balla, Enock Balla, Markus Gashi, Mariyamu Joseph, Maria Istifanus, Nuhu Bulus, Bulus Markus, Ayalla Markus, Monday Danladi, and Kaka Umaru.

Others included; Gundumi Umaru, Joy Ali, Dominion Danladi, Danladi Ibrahim, Mama Ibrahim, Deborah Emmanuel, Friday Emmanuel, Yusuf Emmanuel, Yunana Emmanuel, Irimiya Emmanuel, Pheobe Markus, Saviour Monday, Audi Musa and Sunday Yakubu.

It also gathered that three residents that were identified as Comfort Monday, Success Monday and James Emmanuel serious sustained and are receiving medical attention.

The attackers apart from carrying out killings, also set properties ablaze, including the residence of Mr. Hosea Garba, while the provision shops belonging to Mr. Emmanuel Garba, Mr. Luka Ahmadu, Mr. Monday Markus and Mr. Dogo Rana were razed.

As at the time of this report, the motive for the attack had not been officially established even as members of the community are pointing fingers at armed Fulani militants for the recorded deaths and devastation.

The Nigeria Police, Kaduna State command or any of the security agencies is yet to issue an official statement on the incident or give the casualty figures.

Following increase in violent attacks in communities in Southern Kaduna, resident have demanded for stronger security measures to protect lives and property.
