Popular cleric and founder of House on the Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has turned himself in to the Nigeria Police Force over a viral video in which he is seen allegedly brandishing a gun-like object at a road user while driving an unregistered vehicle.
The alleged incident came to light after a video went viral on social media platforms about two weeks ago.
The prominent Pastor is currently undergoing interrogation at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja as confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command which said that Adefarasin’s voluntarily turned himself in to the police.
The Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command, had in a statement released on their official X handle on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, said; “No one is above the law!”, and said that its crack team of detectives have already commenced an investigation into the incident.
The Police said; “Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” the Police assured.
The incident which generated public debate across social media, raised questions about appropriate conduct, particularly for public figures.
It was gathered that the police investigation is expected to determine the veracity of the claims and whether any laws were violated.
The video which went viral, appeared to show a man identified as Pastor Adefarasin in the driver’s seat of an unregistered vehicle and engaged in what appeared to be a confrontation with an individual, and at one point, an object resembling a handgun was seen in his hand, allegedly pointed towards the other road user.
However, the circumstances that led to the confrontation remain unclear, but the visual evidence triggered public outrage and calls for investigation.
