BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is upping the ante of its political re-engineering with the party scheduling an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) for tomorrow,  Tuesday, February 19 in Abuja.

The meeting will hold at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the NEC meeting will commence at 12 noon.

Though Ologbondiyan did not disclosed details of the meeting’s agenda, sources at the Wadata Plaza said issues surrounding the postponed presidential and national assembly polls as well as plans going forward would be top on the discourse table.

The main opposition’s emergency NEC meeting comes on the heels of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s caucus meeting in Abuja to review its electoral campaign strategies and preparations for the general elections rescheduled for February 23 and March 9, 2019.

Atiku demands apology, slams N2bn suit on Buhari

Meanwhile, the PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has approached a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking to stop President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies in the country from interfering with the 2019 general elections.

He also urged the court to compel President Buhari to pay him damages in the aggregate sum of N2 billion, as well as tender a public apology for sponsoring frivolous suits against him.

The demands were contained in a counter-claim the PDP flag-bearer filed in response to a N40million libel suit the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) slammed against him over an allegation that he (Atiku) defamed the President and his family.
