PDP ‘ll Overrun APC Come 2023 – Atiku

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has boasted that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will overrun the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and regain power at the centre come 2023.

He expressed optimism that there is no saving the APC from the disgrace of losing power given its mis-governance which has inflicted untold hardship on the Nigerian people

Atiku, who spoke with journalists after casting his vote at the Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola, venue of the PDP State Congress, said the Adamawa State PDP State Congress will set the pace for others when it comes to election transparency.

The Wazirin Adamawa urged politicians to respect party guidelines, electoral guidelines and the nation’s constitution in electing party leaders, stressing that democracy can only triumph in a free and fair environment.

According to Adamawa State chapter of PDP, a total 2 614 delegates across the 21 local government areas of the state participated in the exercise, while 39 aspirants were cleared by the PDP election screening committee headed by Mamu Alhaji Mohammed to vie for various elective posts at the Congress.

In his remarks, the Congress Committee Chairman and Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Douye Diri commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and the PDP stakeholders for organizing a smooth and hitch free exercise.

Governor Diri who declared winners from the exercise, said with the unity of purpose and organization, “I remain upbeat that PDP is the party to beat in Adamawa State”.

All the former executives of the party were re-elected and sworn in immediately after the election that held under a peaceful atmosphere .

In another development, Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Adamawa State, Professor Umar Adam Katsayal has laughed off speculations that a Yola High Court has stopped the Party’s State Congress slated for today.

Speaking at the Lamido Cinema venue of the Congress, Prof Katsayal dispelled the rumours, saying; “it is not true, there is no court order stopping today’s Congress, as you can see all the seven-man committee are on ground, and the electoral materials already are here”.

The Chairman explained that they were only waiting for INEC officials to arrive at the venue and supervise the exercise. – With agency reports
