The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from a crucial meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and expressed mixed feelings over the nullification of the National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025 by the Court of Appeal.
In this regard, the Forum urged the Board of Trustees of the Party to immediately convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) through the alternate means provided in the PDP’s Constitution to address issues and provide direction for the Party.
The Forum particularly urged the PDP Board of Trustees, Governors, and other leaders of the Party that while continuing with necessary legal processes, they should urgently explore options for reconciling major stakeholders with a view to resolving the current challenges in the Party.
The State chairmen of the PDP stated that while its members respect the authority of the judiciary, they also noted with appreciation that the appellate court upheld the suspension of three key actors whose activities contributed to the destabilization of the PDP.
The State chairman of the PDP further said that as custodian of the grassroots structures of the party in the country, they have resolved to remain committed to preserving the unity and institutional integrity of the Party.
The Forum of the State chairmen in a resolution adopted and submitted to the PDP’s Board of Trustees and leadership of the Party, noted that recent developments within the Party, particularly the judgment of the Court of Appeal with regards to the National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025, have significant implications for the Party;
In a communique signed by Hon. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Chairman, Forum of State Chairmen, & Chairman, Edo State and Sir Edward Percy Masha, Forum Secretary & Chairman, Kaduna State, stated that as custodians of the Party’s grassroots structures across the Federation, they remain committed to preserving the unity and institutional integrity of the Party.
The Forum specifically applauded the enthusiasm of members in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, adding that progress reports are encouraging, thus called on all LGA and Ward leaders to intensify mobilization efforts to ensure wider participation.
It further stated; “All PDP members are encouraged to remain steadfast in the struggle for the survival and rebuilding of the Party.
“The pathway for rebuilding the Party has been created, and the full restoration of the PDP is assured through unity and collective commitment,” the Forum stated.
The PDP State Chairmen’s Forum reaffirmed its commitment to the unity and progress of the Party and called on all leaders and members to work together in the overall interest of the PDP and Nigeria.
