The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rose from an emergency meeting on Saturday, November 1, 2025, and announced the immediate suspension of the National Secretary of the Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and three others for alleged anti-party activities.
The other three officers suspended along with the National Secretary included, Hon. Umar Bature – National Organizing Secretary, Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade – National Legal Adviser, and Mr. Okechukwu Osuoha – Deputy National Legal Adviser.

The decision for their suspension was taken pursuant to the provision of Section 58 and 59 of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
A statement by the Party, stated that the affected officers were suspended for a period of one month and referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action. The statement further said that during the period of the suspension, the affected officers would cease to function in their respective capacities.
The PDP said that in the case of the National Secretary, Pursuant to Section 36(2) of the PDP Constitution, the Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Setonji Koshoedo shall act as the National Secretary while in the case of the National Legal Adviser and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, the National Director of Legal Services was directed to oversees the activities of the Department.
