The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced the immediate suspension of two of its members over alleged attempts to undermine the party’s forthcoming national convention.

The Party chairmen at a meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, which held at the party’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), secretariat, Abuja, outrightly suspended Austine Nwachukwu, chairman of Imo PDP, and Amah Abraham Nnana, chairman of Abia PDP.

The forum noted that the two officials of the Party reportedly sought a court injunction to halt the scheduled convention of the PDP, saying that it was “a betrayal of trust.

Accordingly, the Forum which was chaired by the acting secretary, Edward Percy Masha, resolved and appointed Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, who is the State chairman of Edo State as Chairman of the Forum.

The two suspended officials were accused of colluding with external forces linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC), to frustrate preparations for the PDP’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025.

The meeting which deliberated extensively on issues affecting the unity and stability of the party, reviewed preparations for the forthcoming National Elective Convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, and assessed the state of the opposition across the federation, expressed grave concern over the activities of certain individuals within the PDP who, allegedly acting in concert with external interests linked to the APC, have been working to derail the party’s National Convention.

This was as the PDP State chairmen specifically condemned the APC for what it described as “its undemocratic, desperate, and systematic efforts” to intimidate, harass, and coerce PDP leaders—including governors, senators, and members of the National and State Assemblies—into defecting.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Tony Aziegbemi, chairman of Edo PDP, described the acts by the APC as an assault on democracy, warning that the conduct of the ruling APC is a dangerous step toward establishing a de facto one-party state, which Nigerians must collectively resist.

The Forum particularly condemned the actions of Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo State) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia State), who recently sought a court injunction to halt the convention of the PDP, stressing that their actions were clear betrayal of the party’s unity and collective resolve.
