BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of twisting the judgement of the Court to target key opposition leaders in the country ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The CUPP also said that the development is a desperate plot to return Nigeria to the 1984 inglorious days with a view to bury constitutional governance and enthrone full blown dictatorship.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the CUPP said that having reviewed the statement of the Presidency on the full implementation of obnoxious Executive Order 6, presently been challenged at the Appeal Court, it noted that the implementation is the final unveiling of forewarned tyranny.

The statement signed by the CUPP 1st National Spokeman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, described as unfortunate that the President could not wait for the final determination of the legal processes in the Court of Appeal before baring his fangs and listing 50 Nigerians with numerous opposition leaders, for travel restriction and seizing of their properties worth over N50m and above.

Ugochinyere said the CUPP hopes that the Court of Appeal will deal a decisive blow on this dictatorial Order and consign it to the dustbin of history where it rightfully belongs.

He said; “Recall that the CUPP had warned Nigerians that a desperate President Buhari realizing that he has already lost the favour of Nigerians will bare his tyrannical fangs and intimidate opposition.

“Key opposition leaders who are part of the international negotiation team are all on the list while some business men who rightly support the ouster of this government owing to the bad policies which have stifled their businesses are also listed just to finally kill their businesses and stop them from supporting the Patriotic effort to rescue our country.”

The CUPP further said that the action of President Buhari is nothing but a another futile attempt by the Presidency to muscle the opposition and deny them of the required funds for the election, adding however that this is coming too late in time as Nigerian electorate are already fully mobilized and ready to punish bad governance with their votes.

Ugochinyere said President Buhari cannot survive the electoral anger of Nigerians adding that his desperation will only cause him to sink deeper into the abyss of opprobrium and hasten his final disgrace from office within the ambit of the law.
