Police Arrest Father For Maltreating Son
BY RAPHAEL ONYEKACHUKWU, ENUGU- The Enugu State Police Command has arrested one Chinedu Okeke for alleged torture and abuse of his 14-year old son, Master Kelechi Goodluck Okeke.
Okeke, who is said to be living at the New GRA Trans Ekulu in Enugu East Council area of the state, was alleged to be in the habit of maltreating his son.
According to police spokesperson in Enugu, SP Ebere Amaraizu, the arrest of Okeke followed intelligence report gathered by the operatives who stormed the residence of Mr. Okeke on 15th March, 2017, where they found little Kelechi, tied with rope after Okeke allegedly inflicted injuries on the boy under the guise of disciplining him.
According to sources, Okeke was always in the habit of subjecting his son, whom he claimed is stubborn, to various inhuman treatments, ranging from kneeling on the stone with his hands tied together and massive flogging with wires and other dangerous objects.
“Following the rescue of little Kelechi with injuries and the arrest of the father, facts have emerged that Kelechi’s mother is not living with the father, although there appears to be unresolved marital issues between both parents.
“Investigation further revealed that Kelechi’s father is, however, leaving with another woman, who is a mother of four kids and married to a certain pastor in Enugu. The woman had abandoned the pastor over an unresolved issue and moved into the home of Kelechi’s father where they turned little Kelechi into a slave”, said the PRO of the Enugu State Police Command.
The police spokesman said the rescued boy had confessed that he was subjected to various kinds of inhuman treatments with his entire body seriously battered and shattered with wire whips in the last one month.
Okeke, on his part, according to the police spokesperson, denied the allegations of inhuman treatment against his son. He blamed the entire situation to the devil, just as he maintained that the essence was to discipline the child whom he accused of being stubborn.
