Police Capture Most Wanted Offa Armed Robbers
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – The Nigeria Police IRT teams deployed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris to Kwara, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti States have arrested two additional gang-leaders of the deadly bank robbery gang that struck at Offa, Kwara State.
Following the publication and circulation of the robbers’ pictures in the media, more arrests of key members of Offa, Kwara State multiple bank robberies and murders were made.
The police said in a statement that several credible leads came from good citizens of the country since the publication of the pictures of the wanted robbers.
It gave names of the confessed gang-leaders as Kunle Ogunleye (aka Arrow), 35years and a native of Kwara State, who was arrested in Oro town, Kwara State and Micheal Adikwu, a native of Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, who was dismissed from the police as a Corporal, adding that Adikwu was arrested by the Police in 2012 and charged to Court in Kwara State for compromising the release of some wanted armed robbers.
The Police further said Adikwu spent three years in prison and subsequently found his way out in 2015 and became a notorious armed robber but was arrested again by IRT Operatives in Kwara State two weeks ago.
According to the Police, all suspects arrested among others have confessed to the Offa Bank robberies and murders, adding that they are assisting the IRT teams in arresting more of the bank robbers as the police continue the investigation.
