Police Confirm Kidnap Of Taraba NLC Chairman’s Wife, Bakery Owner In Jalingo

BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – The Taraba State State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the abduction of the wife of the state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mrs Abigail Peter Gambo and Mr Emeka Okoronkwo, the Chief Executive Officer of Our Nation Bread company.

The two victims were kidnapped in their houses situated at Magami area of Jalingo at about 1:00 am on Thursday.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP David Misal, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Jalingo, said that two people were kidnapped while one other was injured by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Thursday in Jalingo.

The NLC Chairman in the state, Mr. Gambo also confirmed the incident, saying that it was a thing of great shock to him as they all scampered for safety.

According to him; “They whisked my wife away to an unknown destination after shooting sporadically in the compound.”

Gambo explained that he had made a written report to the police on the incident, saying the kidnappers are yet to contact him for any ransom.

He also confirmed that Mr. Okoronkwo, who is the owner of ‘Our Nations Bakery’, who is his neighbour was equally kidnapped.

Forefront News gathered that Okoronkwo’s gateman was shot in the leg during the incident and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.
