Police Handover Arrested Boko Haram Kingpin In Ondo State
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Ondo State Police Command on Sunday, September 24, 2017 arrested a Boko Haram terrorist, Idris Ibrahim Babawo, aged 42, that goes by the names “Idoko” and “Nagada”.
The arrested terrorist is believed to be on serial number 156 on the wanted Boko Haram terrorists list released by the Nigerian Army.
He was accordingly handed over to the 32 Brigade, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army by the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police.
A statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman said that preliminary investigation shows that the terrorist kingpin hailed from Chinade village, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The terrorist was believed to have escaped from the North East due to military onslaught on insurgents with a view to evade arrest and prosecution before he was arrested.
In related development, the Nigerian Army said its troops of 1 Brigade, 1 Division on Operation SHARAN DAJI on Monday September 25, 2017, carried out a successful raid on suspected armed bandits Camps at Kahiru forest, Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Army said on approaching the camp, suspected armed bandits opened fire on its troops and attempted to escape but the troops returned fire, killing one of them and recovered 50 cows, 82 goats and 25 sheep abandoned by the armed bandits.
