BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have dealt a significant blow to local crime syndicates, arresting 10 suspects linked to a wave of violent activities across the state over the past week.
Addressing the weekly security briefing in Benin, the Edo state capital, the State Commissioner of Police Patrick Daaor said the major weeklong crackdown across Edo State yielded positive results with dozens of violent crime suspects being brought into custody
He explained that the targeted sweeps over the last seven days are part of an aggressive, and ongoing push to flush violent offenders out of local neighborhoods.
He said during the period under review, the suspects were arrested for kidnapping, murder, defilement, rape, and armed robbery among others with the Command also recovering one AK 47 Rifle, 10 7.62 mm live ammunition, one barrette pistol with 14 live ammunition.
While assuring the people of Edo State that no effort would be spared in bringing perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety as well as security of all residents, the Police boss urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide credible information to the Police.
