BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Following the resignation of Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore from office as National Chairman and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), there are indications that three different camps may have emerged within the National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of plans for a mini-Congress to elect officers for the two vacant positions.

Forefront News gathered from a dependable source at the presidency that a discreet investigation carried out by a top security aide on the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led to this shocking discovery.

The presidential aide, who carried out thorough background checks, it was further gathered, clearly noted and identified three camps categorised as; the ‘Chairman’, ‘Aligned’, and ‘Conformists’ camps.

According to the investigation by the presidential aide, the ‘Aligned group’ are mainly members of the National Working Committee that were up in arms against the two ousted leaders and ensured that they tendered their resignation, while the ‘Conformists group’ consist of those that refused to be part of the agitation for the removal of Adamu and Omisore as National Chairman and Secretary respectively with the remaining belonging to the Adamu loyalists that felt the matter could have been better handled than what took place without following laid down procedures.

Leading the ‘Aligned’ group is the National Vice Chairman – North-west zone, Mr. Salisu Lukman, who started the upheaval against the APC’s former principal officers due to his dissatisfaction with the manner both ousted Chieftains administered the National leadership.

It was however gathered that in spite of the pressure the ‘Align group’ mounted on the Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, who was to be a major beneficiary of the ouster of Adamu, to join the team to force the former National Chairman to resign, the present acting National Chairman of the Party, bluntly refused to join the trail thus, did not take sides in spite of the fact that he was not also comfortable with the leadership style of his then immediate boss.

Members of the ‘Aligned group’ include; its arrow head, who is the National Vice Chairman – North West, Dr. Salisu Lukman, National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, the Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, the National Woman Leader, Dr Betta Edu, National Vice Chairman, South-South – Victor Giadom and National Vice Chairman, South-west, Mustapha Salihu.

Further checks by Forefront News within and among members of the party hierarchy showed that a few the members of the NWC that of the “Align group’ are still bitter and want the administration of the duo of Adamu and Omisore probed.

The Adamu and Conformists group are believed to be so dissatisfied with the inability of the members of the NWC to handle their affairs internally but, folded hands and allowed Lukman and others to externalised what should be purely the internal affairs of the Party and are desirous for the APC to review the conduct of the National Vice Chairman, North-west and apply appropriate sanctions where necessary.

The Conformists believed to be members of the defunct CPC that fused with ACN to form the APC are also concerned that members of the ACN within the Party want to totally take over the control of the Party.

For now and until the mini convention of the Party holds, the intrigues within the APC’s national leadership is expected to fester except things are handled with care.
