Basking from the euphoria of a breather from legal encumbrances, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, on Thursday, December 15, 2024, pointedly accused the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, of misusing power against her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who stated this shortly after the case of cybercrime preferred against by the Federal Government was withdrawn and accordingly struck out by Justice Mohammed Umar, said that the withdrawal of the case clearly showed that the charges were maliciously instigated against her.
She specifically said that Senator Akpabio and Yahaya Bello misused power to witch-hunt others.
Following the notice of discontinuance filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) on behalf of the prosecution, Justice Umar struck out the charge.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said; “The withdrawal of the two Federal government cases against me only proves that they were maliciously instigated by two individuals, Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello, who misuse power to their advantage in witch-hunting an innocent person, which is myself.
“In life, there are certain situations that test your faith. I must extend my deep appreciation to the good people of Nigeria, Kogi State, especially Kogi Central for their standing with me during this ordeal.
“I must also extend my sincere appreciation to President Tinubu. He was briefed on the truth and ordered the discontinuance of the two federal government cases against me.
“I have never doubted that Nigeria is a land of possibilities and the truth will somehow get one vindicated and now I can actually rest and resume my work,” she said.
