As usual, December presents a busy time for football fans, with Boxing Day fixtures and New Year’s Day games delivering a packed yuletide season in the English Premiership.
Today, clubs’ supporters and fans of the beautiful round leather game will again be hoping for improved or turnaround fortunes for their respective teams on the table as the league reaches the halfway mark.
Amidst the usual excitement that fills the air over the congested schedules, this year’s fixtures are being dotted with complaints from the defending champions, Manchester City over unfavourable games arrangements during the festive period.
The City boss, Pep Guardiola has already expressed his anger with the scheduling and even wrote a letter to the Premier League to complain.
Interestingly, there is tacit support for his plight coming from an unlikely quarters. Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp describes City needing to play two Premier League games in the space of 48 hours as “a crime”.
Reds boss admits his domestic rivals have been dealt an unfair hand when it comes to their congested playing schedule leading into 2020.
Guardiola’s side are set to face Wolves on December 27 before returning to Etihad Stadium for their home game against Sheffield United on December 29.
