Presidency Holds Extraordinary FEC Meeting Today, Oct 7
BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – Ahead of Tuesday, October 8, 2019 planned presentation of the 2020 Budget estimates to the joint session of the National Assembly (NASS), the extraordinary Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting will hold today (Monday) at 12 noon.
The meeting is expected to fine-tune and put finishing touches to the year 2020 budget document.
Originally slated for Saturday, October 5, the meeting was moved forward in what an insider hinted as part of conscious efforts to avoid past confusion of delivering an error-infested document to Nigerians through the lawmakers
The source said the new date was also agreed on to allow some key Ministers and stakeholders make inputs and offer further clarity on the proposals’ gray areas before final presentation to the lawmakers on Tuesday by 2 pm Nigerian time.
According to Presidency sources, among those expected to make presentations at today’s FEC meeting are Minister of Finance of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed; Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clement Agba; and Director General, Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had on Friday night confirmed the Monday date in a statement issued in Abuja.
