President Buhari Assures Nigerians Of Better Tomorrow

President Muhammadu Buhari says though the financial mismanagement of past governments should be blamed for Nigeria’s current economic woes, his administration is working hard to reverse the situation for good.

He said that against all odds, government is determined to ensure that going forward, the country comes out of the present situation better managed.

Receiving traditional rulers, led by the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Buhari said despite the current challenges, the administration will continue to pursue programmes and projects meant to improve the lives of Nigerians in all spheres.

The President said Nigeria could leverage on its huge population strength to become Africa’s economic hub and tasked the visiting royal fathers to collaborate with his government to make it happen.

Thanking God for improved rainy season in the country this year, President Buhari said, “We are lucky this year than last year and this year, the rainy season is good. If it were not good, I must confide in you that I was considering which country to run to. But God answered the prayers of many Nigerians.”

Speaking at the occasion, the Sultan of Sokoto, who thanked God for bringing Mr President back in sound health, urged him to sit up and tackle the challenges of delivering desired growth and prosperity to Nigerians.

Assuring the President of their unalloyed support for the government, the Sultan said, “We will continue to preach peace and stability, justice, transparency and accountability and anti-corruption” towards moving the country forward.

The Oni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunnusi, who spoke for the South West, said, “From South West, we thank God for your life and we pledged to support you from our communities because we are closer to our people. We will continue to preach to our people that we should continue to foster peace in our country, we will continue to caution our youths against hate speeches. We cannot leave the development of the country all to the government but we have to work hand in hand. We assure you that we support all your initiatives.”

For the North West, the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi stated that the royal fathers would continue to identify with the Buhari’s government commitment to national security.

In his remarks, the King of Nembe Kingdom, Dr. Edmond Daukoro, who spoke for the South South said, “We expressed our commitment to your Programmes. We know there is tension here and there but as traditional rulers we don’t eat politics. The economy has to be fixed. Coming from the region that produces the main stay of the economy, even though the country will soon diversify the economy, before we diversify let’s protect the one that we still have. We are pleased to work for peace and stability of the region so that we can all see the benefits of the commodity.”

On his part, Chairman of South East Traditional Council, Eberechi Dike, speaking for the South-East, expressed joy at President Buhari’s safe return but charged him to listen to their people’s cries of marginalization.

“As your children, when we cry it is for you to ask us to stop crying that you will fix whatever is making us cry like the bad roads,” Chief Dike said.

Speaking for the North East traditional institutions, the Lamido Adamawa said Nigerians are happy to have Mr President back to the country hale and hearty.

Amplifying their position, the Lamido said, “God brought you back to Nigeria and we are all very happy. We will continue to pray for God to strengthen you more and give you the courage to continue to do more for the country.”

For the North Central zone, the Gbom Gwom Jos, Jacob Buba Gyang thanked God for giving Mr President good health and urged him to, as a matter of urgency tackle, the deteriorating security situation in the region, especially the recent attack on Ancha village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State that claimed over 20 lives.

Gyang praised President Buhari for the marching order to security agencies to fish out those responsible for the dastardly attacks and the reasons for such crime.
