President Buhari Assures Progressives Governors Of Quick Resolution Of APC Leadership Crisis
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Following the leadership crisis that engulfed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with the leadership of the Progressives Governors Forum.
It was gathered that President Buhari assured the APC Governors that the leadership crisis in the party would be resolved in a matter of few days.
They were led to the Presidential Villa by its chairman, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State. The Governors that attended the meeting included Simon Lalong of Plateau and Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa.
The meeting mainly centred on the crisis tearing the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by an FCT High Court.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan had on Sunday met with President Buhari over the APC crisis, where he challenged leadership of the party across the country to make every possible effort to get the leadership of the party reconciled.
The Senate President said; “I believe that we have to deal with these challenges. This is the ruling party with the president; with the control of the National Assembly; with more governors than any other political party.
“So, I believe that we have to sort this out and that will make our work even better and easier when we have a stable party as the party is supposed to be part of the apparatus of running government,”
The Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) however said that based on the provisions of the APC constitution, there is no leadership crisis or vacuum in the party.
The suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiohmhole followed the ruling of the Appeal Court that affirmed an earlier ruling an FCT High Court that upheld the suspension slammed on Oshiomhole by the Ward of his Party.
