President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday directed the Defence Headquarters to immediately carry out investigation of the unfortunate incident that resulted in the killing of three policemen and a civilian by soldiers of the 93 Battalion, Takum, Taraba.

The Chief of Air Staff (COAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, announced this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the National Security Council meeting presided over by the President.

Air Marshal Abubakar said the Council resolved that a committee will be set up under the Defence Headquarters to critically look into the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.

Abubakar further said the Council also evaluated the current strategy of managing internal security operations across the country and expressed satisfaction with the efforts aimed at restoring law and order in the country, adding; “We are making substantial progress in all the areas of conflicts.’’

Commenting on use of technology and drones to fight crimes as earlier assured the south-west traditional rulers by President Buhari, the Air Force boss said technology would continue to play a very critical role in resolving security challenges across the country.

In his words; “All the Services are using one technology or the other in order to ensure that our country is secured. Security will continue to play a role and we are also looking at other areas of technology that are not currently in use to ensure we put together all that is required to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.”

He said the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies would continue to work to ensure the security of Nigerians and also ensure that no individual or group of individuals undermine the territorial integrity of country.
