President Buhari To Military: Carry Out Crushing Response Against Bandits
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has averred that the nation, its military and the entire population needs to summon the courage required to defeat the bandits and terrorists.
This is as he directed the nation’s military to respond to the worrying repeated bandit killing in a language that the gunmen understand.
President Buhari, who gave the directive while condemning the killings in Zamfara and Kaduna States by bandits, expressed the nation’s sorrow over the loss of lives and urged security agencies to do everything possible to prevent the recurrence of attacks with impunity.
He also called for a crushing response to the killing of innocent citizens in the rural communities.
The President however notes that the military and other security agencies are now working on new methods and policies that are yielding good results in many of the troubled parts of the country.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu states that the president also condemned some politicians making utterances on security, merely seeking applause, and advised them to join the ongoing genuine efforts aimed at finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the nation.
