President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, assigned portfolios to ministers-designate recently screened and confirmed by the Senate ahead of their swearing-in next week.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, who announced the development in a statement, said there would be a retreat for the Ministerial appointees scheduled to hold next week, after which they will be officially sworn in.
The list released by the Presidency on Wednesday has Mr Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), as the Attorney of the Federation and Minister of Justice, while former Governor of Ebonyi State, Senator David Umahi as Minister of Works just as his counterpart, former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was assigned the ministerial portfolio for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) while the Minister of State for FCT is Mairiga Mahmud.

Others include the publisher of Blueprint Newspapers, Mallam Mohammed Idris Malagi as Minister of Information and National Orientation, while former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, will head the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, just as Mr. Bosun Tijani will serve as Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The list has Mr Wale Edun as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy while Mr Dele Alake is the Minister of Solid Minerals Development; Ishak Salako – Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management; and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo – Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
Also, the list has Minister of Power, Adedayo Adelabu; Minister of State, Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa; Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Transportation, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Anite; Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji; Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Nkiruka Onyejeocha; Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy.
Similarly, the Minister of Youth is Abubakar Momoh; the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation – Dr. Betta Edu; Minister of State, Gas Resources – Ekperikpe Ekpo; the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources – Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Minister of Sports Development – Senator John Enoh; Hannatu Musawa – Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy; former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru – the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mattawale – Minister of State Defence.
Similarly, the Minister of State Education is Yusuf Sununu; the Minister of Housing and Urban Development; Ahmed Dangiwa; the Minister of State Housing and Development; Abdullahi Gwarzo, the Minister of Budget and National Planning – former Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Atiku Bagudu.
The President reserved the position of the Minister of Environment and Ecological Management for the nominee from Kaduna State who is yet to be announced.
Minister of State Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Goronyo, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Education Tahir Maman, Minister of Interior, Saidu Alkali, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, Coordinating Minister of Health and social welfare, Ali Pate, Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam.
Minister of State steel development is Maigari Ahmadu; Minister of Steel Development is Shuaibu Audu; Minister of Information and National orientation is Muhammed Idris.
Minister of Labour and Employment is Simon Lalong; Minister of State Police Affairs is Imaan Sulaiman- Ibrahim; Minster of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs is Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo while Prof Joseph Utsev will serve as Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation just as Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi will be the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.
A perusal of the list of ministers showed that the Northwest geo-political zone has 10 ministers, Northeast – six, North Central with eight, Southwest – nine, South-South – six, and South-East – five.
