Following claims by the Nigeria Police that the prime suspect involved in the killings of two undergraduates of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Femi Oladele has died, the Students Union Government of the institution have demanded for the body as a prove.
The police command in Ondo State said Oladele, had shortly after making a chilling confession, suddenly developed a strange illness and later died at a hospital.
However, the AAUA Students’ Union Government pointedly said that the police claim was not convincing and far from being accepted as a story, thus it has totally rejected the police account.
In a statement, the Students’ Union Government of AAUA demanded that the Ondo State police command should produce the body of the prime suspect in the killing of two of their colleagues.
The statement signed by Ajidagba Mosadoluwa Akinbobola, Public Relations Officer of the Students’ Government, gave the Nigeria Police Force, Akure, Ondo State, between two to three hours to produce the corpse of the suspect for confirmation.
It warned that failure to do so would prompt the students to storm Akure massively and demand justice themselves.
The prime suspect, Femi Oladele, was believed to have been arrested by police operatives and confessed to have orchestrated the brutal killing of two students of AAUA, namely; Andrew Eloho Okah and John Friday Aba.
It was gathered that the two murdered students were declared missing for several weeks before their decomposing bodies were discovered near the Ondo-Ekiti border.
According to police sources, Femi Oladele allegedly instructed a cult group to deal with the students for disrespecting him.
The students’ body insisted that it was not asking for sympathy, but demanding accountability, and warned that the police must act with transparency or face the consequences of a collective student uprising.
The statement stressed that the students are determined to ensure that justice is served, emphasising that the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s alleged death must be convincingly explained.
The AAUA Students’ Union said its members would not rest from demanding justice for their fallen colleagues, stressing that the production of the suspect’s body remains a crucial step in verifying the police account and ensuring that the investigation is transparent and thorough.
