Professor Chris Piwuna, a consultant Psychiatrist at the University of Jos, has emerged as the new president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Prof. Piwuna succeeds Professor Victor Osodeke, a soil science expert from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
Piwuna, who is a consultant Psychiatrist with the Jos Teaching Hospital, also serves as the Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos.
The emergence of Prof Piwuna took place during ASUU’s 23rd National Delegates Congress which held in Benin on Sunday.
A dependable source familiar with the process, said the election was a contest between Prof. Chris Piwuna and Prof. Adamu Babayo of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
