Former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun slams Comrade Oshiomhole

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – All is not well with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as protesters in their hundreds stormed the secretariat of the party in Abuja and demanded the sack of the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

The group of protesters on the platform of Save APC and Democracy Youth Vanguard demanded for the sack of the APC national chairman as the only option for the party to move forward.

Led by Peter Oyewole, the protesters attempted to block the main entrance of the party secretariat, but were prevented from doing so by security personnel on duty.

To drive home their messages and anger, they turned the Blantyre Street on which the party secretariat was located into a dancing arena.

Some of the placards carried by the protesters included, among others,  “No to non-elective convention;” “APC must support anti-corruption;” and “Audit APC account now.”

The anti-Oyegun’s protest is coming barely 24 hours after a youth group under the aegis of APC Youths Solidarity Forum, led by Denis Momoh, wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s National Executive Committee to strengthen Odigie-Oyegun’s position within the party.

The pro-Odigie-Oyegun group had noted that the former Edo State governor deserved commendation for keeping the APC together despite what it called the various challenges since coming to power in 2015.
